I was moved by Jen's development of the concept of "light green" and "dark green" after hearing her describe the difference in her presentation on eco fashion and lifestyle at the LA Go Green Expo. A couple days later I caught up with her after her talk at LA EcoTuesday and asked if she'd share her thoughts on this important distinction. I felt that it was powerful to create gradients of greenness to help people find a comfortable place in the movement/industry.
Throughout my years "in the trenches", there was a lot of the kind of cynical elitism that she describes coming from the dark greens. As I've matured as green person and as a human being I try to be very vigilant and aware of those negative lower vibrational attitudes that polarize and alienate potential allies.
It was refreshing and awe-inspiring to learn about the ways that she's been wildly successful in bridging the gap. What she's accomplished is huge, and it's something that everyone can feel good about, no matter what shade of green.
