Use plastic grocery bags for padding!

Green Moving Tip:

There are billions of plastic grocery bags floating around in the world unfortunately. If you are one of those people who already has a large collection of them from your grocery shopping, use them to wrap your fragile items and for box stuffing instead of buying newspapers which kill more trees or buying new bubble wrap that adds to the heap of plastics that don't degrade.

You plastic bags don't have to stop there either. Use them to group items in boxes or just to carry things to your new place.

Ways in which I've gone green:
I use less water for everything. I use my dehumidifier water in my basement to water my plants inside and outside. I have several trees planted in my yard. I replaced my Ford Explorer with a more fuel efficient 2009 Camry. I recycle plastic milk containers for using as flower pots. I use as little electricity as possible and always turn things off when they are not in use.

Donate used cardboard to a community garden

Green Moving Tip:

Community gardens can often use your unusable boxes as sheet mulch.

Use scrap cardboard as packing material

Green Moving Tip:

You won't always need to stuff up empty space in boxes if you cut out pieces of scrap cardboard and "frame in" your stuff. You know how they put styrofoam molds into product boxes to keep the objects perfectly in place based on their shape? You can simulate this by cutting, folding, and shaping cardboard scrap pieces and fitting them in like little springs around your stuff.
